Update for the future of this channel.
Well, the future, and the NOW (4 minute read roughly lol)
Hello friends! I got a lot to say here, but it’s all important, and I’ll keep it as brief as I possibly can. Sorry in advance for all the text!
Up until now what I have been doing on my channel is making quality focused animation on things or topics that interest me, with seemingly no recognizable pattern of content to an outside observer. By quality focused, I mean that they aren’t short cartoons with little effort or thought that I could make just for the hell of it and really quickly (e.g. shitposts).
While this was moderately fun for me, the lack of consistent communication with yall + the time it takes to make these videos creates a few issues…
1 - Exposure on the internet clearly favours those who upload more frequently, and while I’m not trying to be an attention whore, I do care about creating an audience and a community, so that’s something I need to work on a bit
2 – The length of time involved in making these videos does create some unwelcome anxiety. I Can’t exactly explain why, probably has something to do with the reward not being worth the work.
That being said, I have decided to do something to remedy these issues.
I am going to start a series.
There will be a ton of benefits for me and you all that come with this idea, both with me starting a series and by nature of what the series itself will be about, but I won’t get into all that right now. The most important thing is that it will allow me to post more frequently. If it sounds like I’m going down the road of the aforementioned shitposting spiel, fear not, for I still plan to put effort, and more importantly, thought, into each episode of this series.
NOW THE INTERESTING AND IMPORTANT PART…
Like with all my other videos, a lot of planning and pre-production is required to be done before I can even start animating videos for this series. This normally means that it would take me time before I can post anything—HOWEVER we are going to do things a little differently… a little uniquely, now.
From this moment on, for this series, to keep this channel alive and provide content for you all, I will be posting community blog posts and videos involving characters designs, background designs, concept art, audio, technical demos, animation demos and other things related to my planning and progress DEVELOPING this series and its style.
YES I WANT YOU INVOLVED.
No, I don’t have everything perfectly planned out right now. I have a pretty good idea of where I want to take this series, but a number of things still need to be worked out. Think of this as you tagging along for the ride as I conceptualize this series and bring it to fruition.
YES, YOUR FEEDBACK IS VERY WELCOME AND IMPORTANT!
As I show you things, feel more than free to give me your opinion on how they look, if they are dumb as shit or cool as fuck, or meh. Ask me any questions about anything. ANYTHING. Provide suggestions as well :) I will of course take feedback within perspective of what the series will be about (which I cannot reveal unfortunately, for the sake of keeping this interesting and for some wiggle room) and what I am trying to accomplish, so keep in mind that may be a limitation. But please don’t let that stop you from speaking your mind.
I cannot stress enough how great and helpful it will be for you all to tell me what you think on each piece-- I can do it all alone but letting me know what you like and don’t like and stuff will make the end result even better :)
There are a lot of new-ish technical animation tricks and things I want to try out for this series, both out of personal interest and for the desire to simplify certain aspects of the animation process so that I can create them faster. Hopefully they will be entertaining for you to see! :)
